All About STEM – The Enterprise Adviser Network in the Liverpool City Region

All About STEM are pleased to announce that we are embarking on a new project working with The Careers and Enterprise Company and the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership to partner in managing the Enterprise Adviser Network in the Liverpool City Region.

The purpose of the Enterprise Adviser Network is to create powerful, lasting connections between local businesses, schools and colleges. The project is managed, across the Liverpool City Region, by the Local Growth Hub and will match Enterprise Advisers, sourced from local businesses, with a schools Senior Leadership Team in order to develop and inform a careers plan that will be delivered across the school.

The aim is that all pupils leaving school have a better understanding of what skills employers are looking for, an understanding of the range of careers choices available and the skills necessary to start on the career path of their choice.

The Liverpool City Region economy is growing and changing and the skills needed in the future are being developed in schools now. However, over the next 5 years, the population of 16/17 year olds in the Liverpool City Region is decreasing meaning there is a much greater need for a clear message of the requirements of the local labour markets to reach the next generation’s workforce.

Over the next few years the school leavers need to be entering the marketplace with a clear understanding of the skills needed in their local job marketplace in order to meet the demands of the Liverpool City Region. The emphasis of the Enterprise Adviser Network is to ensure that the careers provision in schools is highlighting the demands of the local future economy, capturing the pupils’ attention early on in their high school education, and making them aware of the available career options both nationally and, more importantly, in their local region.

The Liverpool City Regional Local Enterprise Partnerships have enlisted five partner organisations, All About STEM, Career Connect, Sefton Education Business Partnership, St Helens Chamber and Wirral Chamber of Commerce to deliver the Enterprise Adviser Network in their local boroughs. However, as one of the partners, All About STEM is covering every borough. As a result, All About STEM we will be looking to recruit Enterprise Advisers to link with schools, who are signed up to the Enterprise Adviser Network, from right across the region. This is an exciting opportunity for those of you with strategic management experience to get involved with schools in a way that perhaps the more regular STEM ambassador opportunities don’t allow.

If you are interested in being involved as an Enterprise Adviser then drop us an email and we will contact you to invite you to All About STEM’s Enterprise Adviser Network induction.

During the induction we will conduct a DBS check (if required) and start the process of matching each Enterprise Adviser with a school. Once matched, All About STEM will continue to assist and advise each Enterprise Adviser throughout their placement with the school.
