Primary Schools: I’m a Scientist, and I’m an Engineer… get involved!

Have you signed up for the next phase?

Research has shown that Year 5 and 6 are crucial times for showing children that science is a subject for them. One way is connect them with real scientists and engineers who they can relate to, but for many schools that is not easy.

I’m a Scientist, and I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here are free online activities for schools that get your students talking and interacting with real scientists and engineers. Students get to see that scientists are real people, and learn more about how science and engineering work and affect the world around us.

The next opportunity takes place over 2 weeks this June (15th–26th). Your students will be able to ask questions on any topic they like, and have live text-based chats right from their classroom, before voting for the scientist or engineer they like the best who will win £500 to spend on more public engagement.

You’ll receive all the materials you need, and teachers can spend anywhere from one hour to a half day using the site. In the I’m a Scientist event there are specific zones just for primary schools.

If your school would like to take part, or you’d like more information about what’s involved get in touch: Email [email protected], or call on 01225 326 892.
