MerseySTEM STEM Ambassador Training: People Like Me Training (WISE)

Our People Like Me (WISE) training sessions book up fast, don’t miss out!

On Thursday 26th May, 4-6.30pm, at Unit 51 in the Baltic Creative Campus, we will be running a STEM Ambassador training session based around the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) resources ‘People Like Me’.

The resources employ a new approach using girls’ natural tendency to create and articulate their self-identity with adjectives to help them see themselves working happily and successfully in science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM) careers.

People Like Me Training provides STEM Ambassadors with an overview of the issue of unconscious bias and how it can lead to girls deciding that STEM is ‘not for them’. It also teaches STEM Ambassadors how to deliver engaging People Like Me activities in schools with girls aged 11-14.

The training grew out of the research contained in the Not for People Like Me report, authored by Prof Averil MacDonald, Non-Executive Director of WISE, which makes interesting pre-session reading.
