Polymer Study Tours for Teachers: Manchester 3 – 6 July 2016 (Science Focus)
Manchester Polymer group are offering FREE 4 day residential CPD courses for 11 to 19 teachers of Science and Design Technology.
These four day residential courses are designed to provide teachers with case studies that they can use in contextual teaching of both science and design technology. They bring together teachers from both disciplines so that you have the opportunity to meet in an informal environment to exchange views on the teaching of this cross curricular subject.
They are designed to improve knowledge and understanding of the aspects of the curriculum relating to polymers in order to encourage more confident teaching and raise achievement. The courses provide valuable teaching resources relating to the curriculum and promote the knowledge of polymers and their importance to the quality of everyday life and therefore enhance the image of plastics and the plastics industry in the eyes of future consumers.
The course gives provides a unique opportunity to visit major plastics processing companies and to attend lectures and discussions with leading figures from industry and academia. There are sessions in the laboratories where machiery can be used and samples taken back to school.
The Tours have been approved for Professional Development by the Institute of Materials and Mining and teachers who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance for their portfolio.
Tours in Edinburgh and London are also available with a general and D&T focus.
