NCRI: So you want to be researcher?

The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) and Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation invites A Level teachers and students to take part in this special event taking place at the NCRI Cancer Conference in November 2016.

This free event, now in its seventh year, will take place on Wednesday 9th November 2016 at the BT Convention Centre, Kings Dock, Liverpool and is aimed at students who are considering pursuing a scientific degree course, or have an interest in a potential career in medical research.

The title of this year’s event is “So you want to be a researcher?” and will focus on what it really means to be involved in cancer research and the options available if a student wants to follow this career path. Students will hear from young researchers and clinicians in the field, as well as a patient to put things into context. They will have the opportunity to work on their personal statement to apply to top universities and they will hear practical advice from admission officers. The event will allow students to gain a better understanding of cancer research and will give them an insight into the broad range of research being undertaken in universities, hospitals and industry.

The event will run from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm (final programme and timings will be confirmed in due course) with a complimentary lunch included. There are a limited number of spaces available for this event so book early to avoid disappointment.

Please note transport is not included and attendees will have to make their own way to the venue. Tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis.
