In the Medical Learning Zone from Heath Education England North West, NHS Hospital Trusts collaborated to bring visitors a real insight into a career in the NHS.
Health Education England (HEE) supports the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England. Working across the North West, they ensure that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place.
Activities included:
- Observations machines, airway mannequins, resuscitation and defibrillation demonstrations
- Bacteriological samples demonstrating a number of conditions
- Colouring chromosomes and find your own DNA
- Life support procedures
- Ambulance tour
- Radiography, MRI, CT, X-rays, body part models
- Career talks
- Rehabilitation
- Wound mannequin
- Dementia awareness
- Information on services offered for teachers
- Beer goggles to experience impairment
- The ‘Step in the NHS’ website
- Experience how a SIM Man is used in healthcare clinical skills training
- Label bones and have a selfie with ‘Fred’ the skeleton!
