Inspiring Young People In STEM: Resources and Diversity

Start your volunteering and learn how to make STEM activities relevant to a diverse range of young people.

Increasing diversity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics is vital, it’s the only way STEM industries can ensure they are addressing the full range of the world’s problems. So how do we improve diversity? One answer: working with young people.

On this course for volunteers and others working with young people, you will learn how to find and adapt resources for STEM activities. You will explore current research on diversity and learning how to engage every young person in practical STEM activities by understanding different audiences and contexts.

Inspiring Young People In STEM: Using Feedback to Improve

Learn how to obtain and use feedback to help you improve your volunteering and STEM activities with young people.

Responding to feedback is a crucial part of volunteering with young people, it can quickly help you understand how effective you are and show you what you need to change to improve.

On this course you will learn how to use different tools to get immediate feedback during STEM activities. You will also reflect on and explore further ways to improve your ability to work with educators and inspire young people about STEM subjects. Through reflecting on feedback you’ll consider links with your personal and professional development.

Inspiring Young People In STEM: Activities and Improving Communication

Engaging young people through practical STEM activities is a proven way to get young people excited about STEM subjects, a passion that may lead to further learning and greater awareness about STEM careers.
