The Knowsley & St Helens Skills Show 2019: Bright Futures for Students & Residents!

On the 28th of February 2019, hundreds of students & residents gathered at St Helens RFC for the Knowsley & St Helens Skills Show. Attendees experienced exciting careers, tried new skills and discovered more about apprenticeships!

The Knowsley & St Helens Skills Show was the third in a series of four FREE events brought to you by Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Hub and organised by All About STEM. The final event will be hosted locally in Halton with local employers, colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers.

At the Knowsley & St Helens Skills Show, exhibitors from numerous fields inspired students & residents with apprenticeship & careers advice, new skills & hands-on experiences.

The one-day event packed the Totally Wicket Stadium’s function floor & executive boxes with attendees who were keen to plan their future and discover new vocational pathways. Beauty, construction, joinery, health, sciences, business, IT, childcare, the opportunities were endless! Each expert exhibitor brought along a team of apprentices to discuss their own inspirational career journeys.

The Knowsley & St Helens Skills Show began with a VIP launch which welcomed dignitaries including Cllr Brennan & Cllr Derek Long who discussed the importance of future skills and regional programmes.

Guest speaker Siobhan Saunders, Chair Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Hub, highlighted the Hubs phenomenal achievements since May 2017. Siobhan was joined by Portico, Made Ltd T/A Dynorod & First Ark who introduced their Apprenticeship Schemes.

Apprenticeship Hub, Skills Strategy Manager, Melanie Dodd, said: “We were particularly impressed with the diversity of activities our exhibitors brought to the Knowsley & St Helens Skills Show, the room was full of engaged residents and young people across the whole day”

All About STEM, Managing Director, Michelle Dow said: “We are thrilled to be working with the Apprenticeship Hub to help inspire all, about careers and pathways in the Liverpool City Region.”
