Celebrate Earth Day with CREST Awards!
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day now includes events in more than 193 countries, which are coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.
Your students can celebrate Earth Day with CREST and learn how to protect & nurture our planet. CREST offers numerous projects & resources as well as accredited activities from Practical Action.

Practical Action:
The ‘Global Project Ideas’ are linked to the UN Global Goals (or Sustainable Development Goals). They contain a range of ideas, starting points and links to useful websites along with secondary sources of information such as technical briefs.
There are six projects to choose from.

NEW STEM Challenge: Ditch the Dirt
Ditch the Dirt is Practical Action’s exciting new project for pupils aged 8-14 years.
Set in the context of accessing clean water in Kenya it enables pupils to model and test filters as a way of making dirty water cleaner. It can also be used to explore ways of making water safe to drink.
Ditch the Dirt offers a:
• Perfect challenge to deliver parts of the science, D&T & maths curricula
• Great activity for a science or STEM club, transition or enrichment day
• Way for pupils to gain a CREST Award
• Opportunity to highlight links between STEM and the Global Goals

As North West Regional CREST Support Organisation, All About STEM promote CREST Awards across the region and point schools & clubs to the support they need to run this amazing scheme. CREST Awards encourage students to work like scientists, researchers, engineers and designers to investigate and explore their own project ideas.
