Big Bang North West 2019: Sellafield – Remote Robots & Radioactive Missions!
Fantastic news! Sellafield will be returning to The Big Bang North West 2019!
“What does it take to safety operate and decommission one of the world’s most complex nuclear sites? Learn about how we safely handle radioactive material and use advanced robotics to complete our mission. See if you can overcome some of our most difficult challenges by having a go yourself!”
There will be numerous activities available on the big day including:
- Pond Handler – Use an electromagnet to move fuel from one point to another
- Robot Arms – Control robotic arms to pick up items and place them in a skip
- Extend & Stack – Build a tower of wooden blocks, inside a glove box.
Attendees who complete all of the activities will receive a certificate & be able to collect a giveaway!
Sellafield are also returning to sponsor our Award for Innovation as part of the Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition. This award recognises an innovative solution to a problem and originality in thinking in any area of STEM.
