University of Chester: Maths A-Level Summer School
Date: 9th -10th July 2019
Location: University of Chester’s Thornton Science Park (overnight accommodation is based at Parkgate Road Campus)
“Our A-Level Summer School is designed with end of Year 12 students in mind, and will give a taste of first-year undergraduate study at university.”
Sessions and events during the residential will include:
• Meeting a first year tutor
• Support sessions on aspects of A Level Mathematics that students may be finding difficult
• Advice on preparing for Year 13
• Careers advice: What do mathematicians do? Why are mathematicians so employable?
• Student Finance workshop
• Advice on UCAS Applications
Students will stay overnight in on-campus student accommodation, attend stimulating lectures and workshops, as well as spend time with undergraduate students. Outside of study sessions, students will have the opportunity to tour the historic city of Chester, socialise with staff and students in the Student’s Union, and visit the state-of the art sports facilities and library.
