Itec Global: Chemistry Teacher Trainer – Burkina Faso
Itec Global is a British company who supports sub-Saharan African countries to develop the teaching of practical science and mathematics using laboratory and classroom equipment, through providing teacher training and supplying equipment.
They are looking for a Chemistry consultant to deliver teacher training at age 16-18 level (A-level) for three weeks in late September (probably from 19th September) in Burkina Faso. As Burkina Faso is a French speaking country, they are either looking for an English speaker to work with a translator, or for a fluent French/English speaker.
The training is to train teachers on how to use equipment supplied by Itec Global and integrate more practical science into their teaching. The Chemistry training will be running alongside training in Biology, Physics and Maths so there will be a team of consultants involved, some French speaking, some English speaking. The training course is already written and would only need to be personalised by the consultant, there would be an opportunity for the trainer to meet with the person who has written the course before going to Burkina Faso.
Itec Global consultants have at least 7 years of teaching experience, or preferably experience training teachers, and a strong desire to travel or experience working in a developing country. The majority of their consultants are retired or work part time with universities, STEM hubs etc. The recruitment process would be informal via an informal interview/discussion. The role is paid at a daily rate and all flights, subsistence, hotels, visas, insurance etc will be paid for by Itec Global.
