STEM Ambassadors & Volunteers WANTED: Primary Engineer Program
Primary Engineer are looking for volunteers who can support their Primary Engineer program that aims to make engineering and STEM fun and exciting for children.
What is Primary Engineer?
Primary Engineer is a non-profit organisation that runs a range of engineering-based courses for children aged 4-11. They have developed two engineering projects that are linked to the national curriculum, one involves building a shoebox vehicle and the second involves building an electric vehicle.
“Warrington Borough Council; Cavendish Nuclear and Wood are providing funding to cover the costs of training teachers from local schools on how to run these projects in the classroom and the associated classroom kits. We are seeking volunteers to help the teachers at our event on Thursday 7th November 2019 at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub, Warrington.”
What would your involvement be if you choose to volunteer?
*You do not need to be an engineer, an ideal volunteer would have a technical understanding, practical ability and the willingness to help others.
• Participation in a Structures and Mechanisms with Basic Electrics event. You will be partnered with a teacher and will jointly learn the two Primary Engineer “Build a Car” projects together.
• Depending on the time you can offer, we ask you to attend circa 2 sessions in the classroom during the school year to assist the teacher when running the project . You will work with the children in a Q&A session to help put engineering into context for them and also assist in developing their model vehicles.
• Participation in the celebration event at the end of the school year (if you wish to).
