MathWorks Competition coming to the UK!
The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) has announced that its MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge will expand from the U.S. to include students from England and Wales.
Starting in 2021, hundreds of sixth form students (ages 16-19) are expected to join U.S. high school junior and senior students in competing for more than $100,000 (£79,000) in scholarship prizes. A total of 37 monetary prizes are up for grabs.
Marking its 16th year, M3 Challenge spotlights applied mathematics and technical computing as powerful problem-solving tools and viable, exciting professions and attracts the participation of thousands of students. Participants work in small teams, committing 14 consecutive hours on a designated weekend in February/March to devise a solution to a real-world problem using mathematical modeling.
Registration for the M3 Challenge 2021 competition is now open until February 19, 2021 at 4 p.m. ET. The competition will take place February 26 to March 1, 2021.
