Cheshire & Wirral Science Learning Partnership: Primary CPD 2021
As the STEM Ambassador Hub for Merseyside & Cheshire we are part of the National STEM Learning Network, which also includes Science Learning Partnerships (SLPs).
SLPs combine local expertise in teaching and learning in science, facilitating CPD, and providing school-to-school support. They can help you to develop the teaching of science in your school through scheduled CPD or bespoke support tailored to the needs of you and your staff.

Remotely delivered twilight
This session looks at these skills with a focus on using stories to engage children in their science learning. We will investigate a selection of books & practical activities to use with them.

Face to face full day
An opportunity to support the leading of science in your school. From curriculum design to assessment, we look at how to audit your science department & what excellence in working scientifically looks like. It is also a great chance to share practice & learn from other subject leads.
WHAT’S THE POINT OF THIS? 14th October 2021
Remotely delivered twilight
For practical activities to have any lasting value to learning in science, the pupil needs to be able to describe & discuss it with understanding. This session will look at the importance of teaching the knowledge & skills needed before carrying out associated practical experiments.
PRIMARY SCIENCE FOR NQTS 19th October 2021
Face to face full day
Newly & recent qualified teachers will be well equipped to teach science after attending this session. During the session, we will look at the National Curriculum science programme of study & discuss substantive & disciplinary knowledge, & how to apply this to planning. We will also signpost high-quality resources & take a look at assessment opportunities.
WORKING SCIENTIFICALLY 9th November 2021
Face to face afternoon
This session looks at how to unlock the skills to develop an understanding of how Working Scientifically; how this should be incorporated through the science curriculum & how it is assessed.
ASSESSMENT & PROGRESSION 19th November 2021
Face to face afternoon
A great opportunity to have guided professional discussions with other science leads & teachers concerning assessment & progression in science. We will look at the latest research & guidance, to ensure your assessment of science is secure.
