The All About STEM Competition Winners 2024!
We are so proud of our STEMsational schools!
This year, The All About STEM Competition challenged students across the North West to use their STEM skills to develop a problem-solving idea around the theme of food.
The projects came rolling in and we were wowed by the quality of entries and the technical knowledge within them. The posters are always brilliant but honestly, the ideas are more innovative year on year!
Judging was extremely difficult so alongside our category winners, we announced two Highly Commended awards for 2024 before visiting our schools for prizegiving.
A huge thank you to all our entrants and our amazing Competition Sponsor, Unilever.

Our 2024 Winners
Holy Cross Catholic High School – Inters Category Winner
After taking part in an All About STEM Competition Challenge Day, the Holy Cross team designed a school ‘canteen of the future’. They incorporated elements of the workshops into their design, such as edible biodegradable water bottles and paid special attention to material choices and properties. The judges were most impressed that they incorporated systems they had created for transporting stock and considered customer safety and ethical food sources. Their focus was sustainability – fantastic work!
St Monica’s Catholic Primary School – Juniors Category Winner
St Monica’s team designed the technological Brooklyn Café, a mindful hang-out for learners where their interests, comfort and food allergies/preferences were catered for. The café was a digital wonder! Adorable mini-bots appeared to serve and clean with the push of a button. This team focused on wellbeing and demonstrated amazing teamwork – congratulations!
Birkenhead School – Highly Commended
The research in this project was phenomenal. Team Birkenhead’s presentation on avocado farming discussed whether a few tasty bites on the plate are worth the negative impact on the environment. Their colourful, in-depth submission impressed the judges along with their findings. A showcase of knowledge – well done!
Pensby High School – Highly Commended
Team Pensby received their Highly Commended award as their poster focused on inclusion and accessibility for all. Everyone should have the support they need to eat or to visit somewhere to eat. Their design concentrated on accommodations, considerations and adjustments. A super and selfless project!

We are proud to showcase the ingenuity and innovation of young people from across our region and are overjoyed that The All About STEM Competition has been embraced by our schools and students.
The All About STEM Competition 2025 opens on the 8th of November and there is no theme this year, all ideas are welcome! Gather your class and start brainstorming…
All About STEM is making it happen across the North West. We work on lots of different projects to bring exciting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to schools across the region, linking them with business and industry expert volunteers inspiring the next generation of STEM specialists.
