HUNDREDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE VISIT HALEWOOD PLANT TO FIND OUT ABOUT JAGUAR LAND ROVER’S AWARD-WINNING APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME
Thursday 18 December 2014 – Jaguar Land Rover, the UK’s largest automotive apprenticeship provider, held an event at its Halewood plant to support its 2015 apprenticeship recruitment campaign.
The company is looking for up to 200 new recruits to join the 620-strong group currently undertaking the scheme across its six UK sites. Jaguar Land Rover currently accounts for approximately half of the total apprentices employed in the UK automotive OEM sector.
Three hundred young people and their families attended an apprentice open evening from schools and colleges across the region attended the event to find out more about the company’s Advanced and Higher Apprenticeship opportunities.
Attendees met apprentices and staff from the plant to find out about the application process, ask questions about the apprenticeships and also tried some hands-on activities supported by the plant’s Education Business Partnership Centre to get an insight into engineering careers. The Education Centre also ran an apprentice event for 30 students from Halewood Academy, Enterprise South Liverpool Academy and St. Julie’s Catholic High School
Brian Stone, Lean Manufacturing Manager at Halewood Operations, who supported the event, commented, “I started my career at Halewood as an apprentice 27 years ago and am hugely passionate about apprenticeships which are so important to our growing business. We are committed to developing the next generation of engineers and innovators to help our business achieve its ambitious growth plans. It’s great to see so many young people from across the region are interested in joining Jaguar Land Rover to play a part in our future success.”
The award-winning Jaguar Land Rover apprenticeship programme provides students with a strong blend of real world experience and academic learning. Applicants can choose from either the four year Advanced Apprenticeship aimed at GCSE students or the six year Higher Apprenticeship aimed at A-Level entrants. In both cases, recruits can look forward to working in cutting-edge product development and manufacturing environments developing vehicles for two of the most iconic global motoring marques.
