The STEM Ambassadors Programme is a role-model scheme that enables anyone with Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths [STEM] skills to volunteer their time to inspire young people and demonstrate the possibilities of STEM subjects and careers. Schools and other organisations can then request support from the volunteer Ambassadors for their events, activities, lessons etc.
Registering to be a STEM Ambassador Volunteer
The first step is to register online.
Following your registration, you will receive an email from All About STEM asking to you complete an online DBS check & inviting you to one of our Ambassador Inductions. These last approximately two hours and take place in a variety of locations across the region.
During your Induction, you will need to provide the ID documents required to complete the DBS process. The Induction will also familiarise you with the Ambassadors Programme and provide you with tips about working effectively with young people.
Alternatively, it is possible to work though the induction training online and at your own convenience. In this case you will still need to complete a DBS ID check with one of our staff.
Finally, once your Enhanced DBS Disclosure is returned, you will be issued with your Ambassador’s ID card and you can begin to volunteer in schools and at local events. After your first volunteering activity, you will receive your STEM Ambassador badge.

Requesting Ambassador Support
Schools, and other organisations, can request the help of STEM Ambassadors (completely FREE of charge) to support their activities; specific lesson content, careers events, club projects, or anything else you can think of.
At the start of the new academic year, a new digital platform will be launched to enable schools to request STEM Ambassador support. All About STEM is currently supporting a pilot to trial the sorts of questions that may be included. If you’re a school or other organisation that wishes to request an Ambassador to support a lesson, activity or event, please complete the pilot Ambassador Request Form by clicking the link below:
Click to access the STEM Ambassador Request Form (Pilot version)
We’d also be interested to get your feedback about the pilot process to inform the development of the new digital platform. For any support with completing the form, or to provide feedback about it, please contact [email protected].
