LivWiSE Annual Christmas Lecture

LivWiSE Annual Christmas Lecture is an evening of entertainment and engagement.

This fun, free lecture is a series of mini talks introducing you to an exciting variety of areas in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine) and the people who are passionate about them.

The lecture takes place on Thursday the 4th December 2014 from 5-7pm

• 5pm Registration and refreshments
• 5.25pm Welcome and introduction
• 5.30pm Guest speakers mini talks followed by Q&A session
• 7pm Event finishes

Guest speakers and topics include:

·“Tissue Engineering ; the gift that keeps on giving or a bit of a turkey?”by Dr J Curran, (Engineering)

·“The Ageing Human Knee” by A Peters, (Ageing & Chronic Disease)

·“Immortal Cells” by Dr A Mielgo Iza, (Institute of Translational Medicine)

·“How do I know my Robot is safe?” by K Atkinson, (Computer Science)

·“Illuminating Dark Matter” by Dr H Hayward (Physics)

·“Building with molecules: how small things can make a big difference”by Dr A Slater (Chemistry)

·“Active Cloaking: Unveiling the Maths behind Invisibility” by J O’Neill (Maths)
