Healthcare Science Week

Healthcare Science Week

Healthcare Science Week 2015 will run concurrently with British Science Week, between 13 and 22 March.  NHS Trusts will be engaging with their local communities throughout the week and there will be plenty of fun and interesting activities.

Healthcare Science Week is an annual week-long programme designed to promote the amazing work of healthcare science professionals and highlight the difference they make to patients’ lives.

The week is the trusts’ chance to tell their local community and other health professionals first-hand about how science and technology is vital in modern patient care and changes lives for the better. It’s also an invaluable opportunity for existing healthcare science staff to inspire the next generation of healthcare science staff by promoting the new career structures in local schools and colleges.

The NHS guide for trusts is available to download and has all the information needed to get involved, including:

  • suggested activities for the week
  • a mythbuster about healthcare science
  • a toolkit of information to use in schools and colleges
  • draft press releases and articles for internal communications
  • useful web links

And a new poster from NHS Employers can help publicise healthcare science careers locally.

The NHS Careers healthcare science web pages have detailed information about the different healthcare science careers, entry requirements and training programmes and there are online courses available via the Health Education England website – Learn about the fundamentals of a person’s DNA …and everyone gets a certificate at the end!

Don’t forget, a STEM Ambassador visit is a fantastic way for schools and STEM Clubs to learn more about The NHS. STEM Ambassador’s have experience in the field and they’re FREE!
