An apprenticeship at GETRAG requires one thing above all else: Commitment!
From day one, apprentices will be involved in various activities. While working with qualified craftsmen on the job training will be provided in:
- Machine and equipment maintenance
- Fault finding /Diagnostics
- Preventative maintenance techniques
- Restoring components and systems to serviceable condition by repair and replacement
Training
All apprentices attend college and study courses applicable to their role up to HNC (Higher National Certificate). All apprentices spend a year at Riverside College for broad based training and then a further three years on site. Full intermediate/advanced apprenticeship in engineering will be provided by Riverside College, this will include technical certificate Level 2/3 and functional skills.
Skills Required
Mechanical/electrical aptitude, analytical ability, good problem solving skills and a methodical approach.
Qualifications Required
Minimum 5 GCSE’s Grade A*-C minimum grade B in Maths. Plus level 2 ICT qualifications desirable.
Future Prospects
The Apprenticeship role offers the opportunity to achieve full craftsman status and an NVQ level 3 qualification.
