“Construction is a continuously growing industry in the North West, growing above the national average rate, with a range of roles and routes into industry available. We are excited to collaborate with Eric Wright who will be presenting an innovative digital resource designed to enthuse and inspire students in Years 9 – 13 about a career in Construction. At this online event, you’ll get the opportunity to see the resource in action, find out more about the industry, and meet Ambassadors working the construction industry for a Q+A session.” – STEM Ambassador Hub Trans-Pennine
All teachers, Careers Advisers, trainee teachers and teaching assistants welcome!
More about the resource
Produced by the Eric Wright Learning Foundation, this resource gives students an interactive experience of the Construction Industry. In a digital format, students can learn about the processes of health and safety training and earn virtual accreditation which gives them access to the site team. They can learn about various roles and pathways and complete challenges set by the team. Students will require problem solving, maths, and literacy skills. If delivered in group sessions it encourages team work, communication and leadership skills. On completion of the site tasks, students can then access a number of site tours from our different business areas – Construction, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management and Water. The emphasis of the activity is the journey from site induction to site operative.
The resource is designed to give students an insight and an opportunity to explore further. The case studies cover experiences from apprentices and HE pathways. The format allows the activity to be delivered to individuals, small groups or whole class sessions.
Online Event: Wed, 9 June 2021 16:00 – 17:15
