A Decade of Educate Awards: Celebrating STEMsational Schools!
It was an emotional night at this year’s Educate Awards. It’s a night we look forward to every year as schools, colleges, sponsors and supporters come together to celebrate amazing students and staff from across the region.
But Educate 2024 was extra special for us. It was our tenth year as a sponsor!
So alongside the joy of announcing the wonderful Evelyn Community Primary School as our winner, we took some time as a team to look back and reflect.
The word ‘sponsor’ can be defined in many ways but our favourite definition is ‘to stand for’.
Yes, we hope our schools and colleges know that we stand for STEM education (and STEAM), but sponsoring this award wasn’t about us or having our name on a crystal tick. It was about shining a light on the phenomenal work of schools that can sometimes go unrecognised, and standing for those who make it happen. They deserve to be celebrated.
Our award is all about the inspirational teachers and support staff who offer a range of STEM activities and go above and beyond, time and again, to make learning interesting, engaging and fun. That could be through collaborating with experts and employers, completing projects, offering an over-arching approach, devising new strategies or accommodations, entering competitions or signing up for new opportunities to raise aspirations and help students thrive.
Just imagine how much time this takes. There’s no doubt they put their pupils first.
When staff have little or no time to spare because of their workload, a commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths takes great dedication. (We know and we see you. Thank you.)
If you would like to see them too, scroll down and look back at the activities and opportunities offered by these extraordinary award-winning schools. They are truly …all about STEM.
