By popular demand our Engineering Your Future event is back! The best news is we’ve added an additional date in Warrington too so both Merseyside and Cheshire students can get involved – book now!
What is Engineering Your Future?
Now in its fourteenth year in London and its eighth year here in the North West, Engineering Your Future has become a key date in the diary of North West Secondary Schools and Sixth Form Colleges. This series of one day career events has been established to provide an opportunity for attendees to see that engineering is a career worth pursuing, and help them make an informed choice.
Friday 17th October 2014
Anfield Rd, Liverpool, Merseyside, L4 0TH
Friday 28th November 2014
Halliwell Jones Stadium
Mike Gregory Way, Warrington, WA2 7NE
Who should attend?
This informative and hands-on event is aimed at students between 17-18 years old who are studying science, maths or engineering at GNVQ or A-Level, together with their STEM subject teachers.
What happens on the day?
The day is split into 5 sessions providing insights into Mechanical, Civil, Electrical/Electronic, Chemical and Nuclear Engineering; each of which lasts approximately 40 minutes. Attendees will be split into five groups and each allocated a mentor Engineer for the day. They will learn about the specific areas of engineering from the companies and organisations invited, along with a lunchtime marketplace offering more information on ‘Routes into Engineering’. The sessions are designed to be practical and interactive and provide an insight into life as a professional Engineer or Technician.
There will also be a separate STEM teacher session to outline all the various routes into the engineering profession, the extensive resources available from the Professional Engineering Institutions & Societies, and the role of STEM Ambassadors in enthusing students of all ages. This has also been extremely well received.
Benefits of Attendance:
Students and teachers will benefit by increasing their awareness of the very broad scope offered by a career in engineering; the various routes into engineering; what they can expect and whatit entails. All the presenters will be qualified and experienced Engineers and Technicians.
