STEM Ambassadors – Enjoyed it? You could become a teacher!

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) offers a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) programme, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), the essential accreditation for anyone who wants to teach in state-maintained and special schools in England and Wales.

School Direct is a new route into teaching which is led by schools, working in close collaboration with LJMU.  It offers trainees a more school-centred approach.

This route into teaching offers a salary while you train. You will be paid for the year that you train (September 2015 to August 2016), with a higher salary on offer if you are interested in teaching Physics, Mathematics or Computing, of up to £25,000.   You will be given responsibility for a class and the support of mentors in school and at LJMU.  There are a range of schools looking for people to start the course this September:

  • Chesterfield High School, Sefton
  • North Liverpool Academy, Central Liverpool
  • The Heath, Runcorn
  • Weatherhead High School, Wirral
  • Clare Mount Special School, Wirral

For more details of how to apply for this year or for courses starting in 2016/17 contact Di Lloyd at [email protected]
