University of Liverpool FREE Events: Festival of Medical Research
The University of Liverpool are hosting a number of free events for the Medical Research Council’s Festival of Medical Research.
The Festival is to be held between the 18th and 26th June at locations around the University campus and Liverpool’s World Museum. All events are free but places must be booked in advance apart from the Meet the Scientists event.
Meet the Scientists at Liverpool World Museum

Poster Reception at the Victoria Gallery and Museum of Liverpool

Lab Tours at the MRC Centre for Drug Safety Science
- Date: Monday 20 June – Friday 24 June 2016

- Description: An opportunity for members of the public to see research labs in operation as part of a small group tour during which they will have the opportunity to ask questions of real researchers in the field of medical science.

Lab Tours will be running across campus on different days and at different times. To sign up for a tour please visit the Eventbrite page for the lab you would like to visit and select the tour time you would like on the registration page. Please note that tour numbers are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Tour participants must be at least 12 years of age and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tours can accommodate those with specific access needs. Unfortunately support animals are not allowed in most labs due to the risks posed to the animal and the potential for experimental work to be contaminated. Please contact the tour organisers to if you have any concerns about access.
All tours will convene in the foyer area of the Victoria Gallery and Museum. Here visitors will be met by a lab representative and escorted to the venue. Please arrive at the Victoria Gallery and Museum at least 15 minutes before the start of your tour.

Visiting the University
Visitors are advised to use public transport wherever possible – the University campus is a short walk from Liverpool Lime Street station and several buses stop near the campus. However, limited visitor parking is available for all events held at the University of Liverpool at the following car parks:
Cambridge Street Car Park – opposite the Cambridge Pub
Mount Pleasant Car Park – accessed opposite the Cathedral
Peach Street Car Park– accessed from Brownlow Hill
Brownlow Street Car Park – accessed from Pembroke Place
