Free Resources – Biology: Changing the World Project

The Society of Biology has produced free teaching resources to engage children with the eminent and sometimes unsung heroes of biology.

A poster and teaching notes have bene produced for lessons with 7-11 years olds. The poster contains information on C B Williams, Beatrix Potter and Mary Anning. The teacher notes have further background information on these individuals, their areas of science and two CLEAPPS approved practicals.

The website can be used in both primary and secondary school science lessons. The website has profiles of biologists throughout history who have helped to change the world through their discoveries.

A free app is available for both apple  and android, they use the visitors location in order to introduce them to the great biologists who lived and worked nearby and the biological discoveries which were made in the area.

The resources are available to download for free here and hard copies are available by emailing [email protected]

This is part of the Biology: Changing the World project, funded by HLF and developed in partnership with BBSRC.
