DATE EXTENDED: I’m an Engineer – Get me Out of Here!

I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here, is an online event that gets engineers talking to students all over the UK at http://imanengineer.org.uk.

This June there are zones covering everything from biomedical engineering, like the Artificial Body or the Hospitals Zones, to Space, Energy, and the Environment, as well as a General Engineering Zone where your students will be able to interact with 5 engineers from all areas of engineering.

Students will have the opportunity to challenge engineers over fast-paced online live chats. They can ask the engineers anything they want, and vote for their favourite engineer to win a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public. The event allows students see that engineers are normal people, they can learn that science, technology and maths lessons relate to real life, and become more enthused about engineering.

If your school would like to take part, or you’d like more information about what’s involved get in touch by Friday 15th May. Email [email protected], or call on 01225 326 892.

You can find more information (including films showing how the activity works in schools) at http://imascientist.org.uk/teachers, and http://imanengineer.org.uk/teachers.
