FREE Entry: Visit the Great Exhibition of the North with your school group!

The Great Exhibition of the North is free for all schools and all age groups to access. It will run from the 22nd June to 9th September showcasing the best in Innovation, Arts and Design from across the North.

Schools can book to visit the Exhibition with their class for either a half day or a full day and are able to tailor their visit dependent on the subject focus or venues they would like to visit.

Full Day visits
– Get North City Trail: Art, Design, Innovation
– Get North Quayside Trail: Art, Design, Innovation
– Get North Innovation Trail
– Get North Design Trail

Half Day experiences
– Great North Museum Half Day Schools Experience
– Gateshead Quays Half Day Schools Experience

Further information and all bookings for school trips for the Great Exhibition of the North can be made via the website here.

There is a specific capacity available to schools each day, by booking through the website, this space will be reserved for you, on a first-come, first-served basis. The Great Exhibition team will then be in touch with an itinerary by Friday 20 April.

Great Exhibition of the North

The Great Exhibition of the North will highlight the dynamic story of the North of England- how its innovators, artists and designers shaped our present and are inspiring our future!

The content and schools offer will align with the themes of the 3 walking routes through the city (Innovation, Art, Design) and the schools’ offer will be strongly linked to STEAM, highlighting how creativity and invention is used within STEM.

The Great Exhibition of the North is coming, save the date!

The Great Exhibition of the North 2018 is a once in a lifetime opportunity to show your young people how the North is shaping their present and can inspire their future. Newcastle Gateshead will be the canvas to display this and you and your class can explore 3 themed walking routes- innovation, arts and design.

Just to give you a little taster, Stephenson’s Rocket will be returning to the city in which it was built, along with Helen Sharman’s spacesuit and John Lennon’s piano so there’s plenty to get your students excited!

Enter the Great Exhibition of the North Photo Competition

A fantastic opportunity for individuals, STEM classes or STEM Clubs!
Prize for schools- £500 of art supplies and photos could be featured in Great Exhibition of the North promotional materials. Competition themes include Northern Culture, Cityscape/ Landscape, My Innovative North & Art and Design.

Super Charged Teaching Resources – coming soon!

A resource pack per key stage, per theme, (18 packs in total) will be created for the Great Exhibition with links to multiple curricula. These will be able to be used by teachers either in preparation for a visit, but they will be equally useful to use to support lessons using the North as the inspiration.
