The Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project

Welcome on board the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project!
– Free resources to inspire pupils with real-world STEM and introduce them to careers they may not realise exist.

What is it?

The Black Sea Maritime Archaeology (Black Sea MAP) project was a three-year interdisciplinary expedition researching ancient coastlines and seafaring history of the Bulgarian Black Sea.

You can meet the individuals and teams that work on the project, see STEM skills and technologies in action and experience the challenges of solving problems at sea to uncover the past.

What are the free resources for KS2 and KS3?

Meet some of the people on board.
Can your students find the answers to questions about Maritime Archaeology and STEM applications?

You can download the A3 poster here

Three films and accompanying resources showcase the STEM applications of the Black Sea MAP. They also illustrate the wide range of careers involved in the expedition.
