Merseyside Maritime Museum Meet: The Ocean Tide & the Port of Liverpool
On Saturday 11 May 2019 there will be a meeting at the Merseyside Maritime Museum called The Ocean Tide and the Port of Liverpool.
This meeting is organised by the National Oceanography Centre and the University of Liverpool, in association with the Centre for Port and Maritime History (University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Merseyside Maritime Museum) and the Liverpool Institute for Sustainable Coasts and Oceans (National Oceanography Centre, University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University).
It marks the 100th anniversary of the world-famous Liverpool Tidal Institute, founded at Liverpool University in 1919 before moving to Bidston Observatory on the Wirral. That Institute, after many changes of name, is now a part of the present-day National Oceanography Centre. The meeting also marks the start of teaching and research in Oceanography at Liverpool University, the first oceanography department in the UK.
10 am to 2 pm with free registration and free refreshments.
This session is suitable for older school students interested in science & local history.
