Big Bang North West 2019: Farm Urban – Aquaponics Challenge & Smoothie Shots!
We are overjoyed to announce that Farm Urban will be returning to The Big Bang North West 2019.
Farm Urban are a social enterprise who use aquaponics and open source technologies to engage and inspire people to connect with their environment and explore their relationship with food. Are you ready for some inspirational, sustainable (and delicious) activities?!
The Aquaponics Challenge: Farm Urban are looking for the best problem solvers, innovators, researchers and engineers in the North West. See how quickly you can build our Produce Pod aquaponic system. The catch – there are no instructions and the clock is ticking!

Our living labs bring green technology into the classroom. By presenting students with the real-world problem of food security and challenging them to find innovative and creative solutions, we’re uncovering the next generation of scientists, entrepreneurs and leaders.”
Farm Urban Programmes
Farm Urban offer a range of educational programmes based around aquaponics and urban farming.
Their Future Food Challenge is a 12-week STEM & Enterprise after-school programme. They have regional challenges & an online programme which can be accessed anywhere in the world. Click here to find out more!
Their Produce Pod workshop is ideal for primary and secondary schools and they encourage you to invite along family members to join in the fun.
The challenge: to be the fastest team to build our Produce Pod aquaponic system. The catch: there are no instructions – and the clock is ticking!
Their Produce Pods are also available to buy, with an accompanying resource pack available, making a fantastic Living Lab for your classroom!
