Liverpool Life Sciences UTC & The Studio School win National Junior Science Award with Unilever Bright Future Project!
Congratulations to our Bright Future Inspire Programme, Innovation Award winners, Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and Studio School! We are overjoyed to hear that they have won The Big Bang Competition Junior Science Award with their Unilever Bright Future Project – Cool Comfort.
The Studio School and Liverpool Life Sciences UTC participated in the 2024/25 Unilever Bright Future Programme, with schools across the region completing workshops and activities led by Unilever experts. Using the knowledge and skills acquired, students had the opportunity to take the Unilever Bright Future Inspire Challenge and design a sustainable product over three months to present to a judging panel at Unilever’s Awards and Celebration Day.
Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and The Studio School designed Cool Comfort as a one-of-a-kind product aimed at women struggling with skin concerns during perimenopause and menopause. The product was formulated to be instantly cooling, hydrating and soothing and packed with sustainable ingredients including aloe vera, shea butter, centella asiatica and raspberry seed oil. Cool Comfort has an SPF factor of 15, can help with dry skin and has biodegradable packaging too!

The team’s professional presentation, exceptional research and planet-friendly product impressed the judges so much that they were awarded the prestigious Unilever Bright Future Innovation Award.
Following the awards presentation, all students are encouraged to submit their project work for a CREST Award and to local and national competitions.
