Food Teachers Centre Training: GCSE Investigate Food 2
The Food Teachers Centre is offering a one day GCSE Investigating Food Course focusing on proteins, pH and practical investigations.
Julie Messenger and Barbara Monks will deliver a package that will focus on the requirements for teaching the new GCSE Food preparation and nutrition.
“We believe that practical based learning is essential for students and therefore we will present ideas that will engage the learner and work well in food lessons.”
Protein science such as biological values of protein, denaturation of proteins and the process of coagulation will feature alongside the effect of pH on a range of food preparation processes such as foams and colloids.
Barbara will take you through the food science activities and Julie will cover curriculum planning and links that build through KS3 to KS4 for successful teaching of the new specification. This will be a value packed day with lots of teacher ready resources.
Last summer many teachers took away activities that they were delighted to incorporate into their KS4 schemes. There will be training days in the summer term specifically for Year 10 students who will be starting Food preparation and nutrition in 2016.
