Big Bang North West: Play Human Pong with Code Club!

We are overjoyed to announce that Code Club will be returning as an exhibitor at The Big Bang North West 2018!

Code Club’s activities were immensely popular with our 2017 visitors and they have an exciting new line-up this year – Space Station style Sense HATs and Human Pong. You don’t want to miss this!

“We’re looking forward to returning to The Big Bang North West again this year, it’s always such a fabulous, noisy, colourful, action-packed day and we can’t wait to join in the celebration of STEM activities from across the North West.” – Code Club

2018 Activities:

Sense HAT animations – Did you know there are two Sense HATs currently running experiments on the international space station? Come and see our Sense HAT to create a Python pixel art image that we can add to our Sense HAT LED image gallery.

Human Pong – Pong is one of the oldest video games and it’s a classic. Come and play this Scratch version of pong (with a difference) as you become the paddles and your quick movement keeps the opposition from scoring!

“Code Club aims to give every child the opportunity to learn to code, no matter who they are or where they come from! Founded in 2012, we work with teachers, businesses and parents to develop a network of volunteer-led free after-school clubs. Code Club works to give children aged 9-13 an outlet to build and share their ideas, so they can learn to engage actively in creating technology, rather than just being passive consumers.”

“We provide project materials and a volunteering framework to support Code Clubs across the UK and in 80 countries around the world, so you don’t need to be a coding expert to run a club. Our projects are step by step guides, which provide structured and fun content for your clubs.”

The Big Bang North West is going to be the biggest and best yet. Our morning session is already full, book your school group now for our afternoon session!

Please note: If you are entering The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition you will need to book a morning visit as judging takes place throughout the day. (Booking a morning visit is still possible for competition entrants.)
