Discover inspiring stories of teaching STEM at the Great Science Share Teach Meet!

Primary, Secondary and Further Education teachers in Greater Manchester have the chance to discover inspiring stories of teaching STEM at the Great Science Share Teach Meet on Monday, 6th March at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester.

The event launches the Great Science Share 2017, and will showcase two unique science shows by the Museum of Science and Industry’s Explainer team, as well as speed networking and a chance for teachers to share classroom activity ideas and explore resources available to them from STEM learning providers.

Teachers will also be able to find out more about the Museum of Science and Industry’s learning offer for schools and the TransPennine STEM Ambassador Hub, which the museum launched last year along with its sister organisations the National Railway Museum, in York, and the National Media Museum, in Bradford.

The first Great Science Share took place last year, as part of Manchester’s year as European City of Science. More than 200 schools signed up to take part and hundreds of young people took the lead in sharing what they enjoy about STEM subjects in events across the city in July 2016.

The event is run in partnership with the online teacher hub Twinkl Educational Publishing , and event organisers are particularly looking for teachers who have developed successful STEM classroom resources to take part in the Teacher Resource Share activity.

Nichola Wallworth, Regional STEM Ambassador Hub Manager at the Museum of Science and Industry, said: “This event brings together all that is fun, hands on and engaging in STEM locally. By igniting curiosity in teachers we will enable them to go back to the classroom and pass this onto their young people. This event supports teachers in building new connections and finding out what they can access in Greater Manchester. This might be bringing students back to the museum, accessing a STEM Ambassador, finding out about the Great Science Share 2017 or simply picking up a great science tip to enhance a lesson. Whatever it is it was a great success last year and is back by popular demand!”

The event starts at 5.45pm and runs until 8pm. Refreshments will be available during the event.
