CREST Awards: RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch Activities
Every year, educators from every corner of the UK take part in the RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch, turning their classes into conservation scientists and helping track the ups and downs of birds across the country. Are your pupils taking part?
You can submit your survey results from today till the 22 February 2019 and after that date the RSPB will share the results so your class can see how their research is contributing.
In the meantime, why not enrich your wildlife sessions with this Brilliant Birds CREST Superstar activity?
This activity really gets children thinking about birds, habitats, designing and making and it’s perfect to use before or after your birdwatch.
CREST activities are designed to be easy-to-run and low-cost, and you don’t need to be a teacher, have a science background or have access to specialist equipment to run them. Children are eligible for a CREST Award after completing eight of the Superstar challenges and you’ll find helpful hints and tips in each pack for you to use, explaining the scientific themes and offering guidance on conversation topics for your children.
You can find Brilliant Birds on page 32 of the CREST Superstar resource booklet.
