Daresbury Laboratory: IET Faraday Challenge Day
Daresbury Laboratory is delighted to be hosting an IET Faraday Challenge Day on Tuesday the 26th of June 2018 and are opening bookings for schools interested in taking part.
Faraday Challenge Days – Enter your school!
Faraday Challenge days are delivered free of charge by the IET in 68 schools and 12 academic partner universities.
The Faraday Challenge Days are one day STEM activities designed for six teams of six students and designed for Year 8 students (England) and their equivalents (aged 12-13 years). IET Faraday Challenge Days give students the opportunity to research, design and make prototype solutions to genuinely tough engineering problems. At each event teams compete to win a prize for themselves and a trophy for their school.
The event is set up and run by a team of STEM professionals to give you the time to focus on your students. Students win prizes for themselves and their school.
The winners of each event win prizes for themselves and a trophy for their school. The top five teams from across the UK get an all expenses paid trip to the National Final in July each year to compete for a cash prize of up to £1,000 for their school!

CREST Discovery Award
By taking part in one of the IET run Faraday Challenge Days, your students will be eligible to receive a CREST Discovery Award from the British Science Association.
CREST Discovery recognises quality STEM project work that is done over a short period of time (usually a day). It focuses on fun, teamwork and transferable skills.
Like all CREST Awards, creativity, decision making, problem solving and communication are key to gaining a Discovery Award, as is putting projects in a real-world context.
Students will need to complete a CREST Discovery passport explaining how they have completed the tasks during the Challenge Day and worked together as a team.
