Big Bang North West: Billions of Big Bang @ School events!
WOW! We have facilitated so many amazing Big Bang @ School events in the last month and we are proud to bring SO MUCH STEM FUN to the region… it’s all thanks to our sensational host schools and sponsors.
Thank you to all supporting organisations who have helped fund these events and to all staff and students. You have developed your events and workshops, organised stands, mentored children, offered competitions, presented shows and more. We love collaborating with organisations, schools and colleges who endeavour to promote STEM. You are nurturing the next generation of experts and are truly inspirational!
Big Bang @ Litherland High
Litherland High always host a fantastic Big Bang @ School event. Every year they offer local primary schools the chance to enter their project competition and attend.
They even produce beautiful awards for the occasion and present their own science show!

Big Bang @ Alsager School
Alsager School hosted their Big Bang @ School event at the weekend so everyone could come along!
Children, teens, adults and families enjoyed a fire & science show from Science2U, a planetarium dome and awesome STEM activities from Alsager 6th Form.

Big Bang @ Liverpool John Moores University
Sponsored by Shaping Futures, this Big Bang event included three inspirational STEM workshops. Liverpool John Moores University students mentored younger visitors and hosted two of the sessions.
‘Flip & Flop’, a maths workshop examining how much water is needed for the perfect bottle flip and ‘Exploring Climate’, when do you travel as a carbon molecule?
Farm Urban completed the trio of activities with an introduction to aquaponics.
The children were more than excited to get to grips with their Produce Pods, imagine telling your friends you’d made your own eco-system at school!

Big Bang @ Nelson & Colne College
This amazing careers day was funded by the Borough of Pendle & supported by the Lancashire Enterprise Adviser Network (CEC) & Nelson & Colne College.
Their Work Inspirations event consisted of Energy and Environment, Advanced Manufacturing, Creative Economy, Financial & Professional Services, Visitor Economy and Health and Social Care zones.
So many awesome career paths for students to consider and experience.

Big Bang @ Lord Derby Academy & Ridgeway High
A Big Bang double-bill at Lord Derby Academy & Ridgeway High with Farm Urban. Fantastic fun learning about health, food and aquaponics.
“The produce pod is an open source aquaponics system that allows you to grow fresh, healthy food all year round. Aquaponics is a mini-ecosystem inspired by nature: your fish fertilise your plants and your plants purify the water for your fish!”
You can’t see the Produce Pod here, they were all so keen to get going!

The Big Bang @ School
The Big Bang @ School supports schools to deliver an event to excite pupils about STEM subjects and inspire them to consider science or engineering careers.
A Big Bang @ School Fair can be big or small, you can invite local businesses to take part, involve STEM ambassadors, bring in activity providers or do it all by yourself. The important thing is that pupils have fun finding out where their STEM studies can lead them.
The Big Bang @ School is part of the wider Big Bang programme, led by EngineeringUK in partnership with over 200 organisations.
